Anthony Mackie Thinks Civil War Could be First Superhero Film Up for Best Picture

Anthony Mackie as Falcon in 'Captain America: Civil War'

Captain America: Civil War is just that good.

Anthony Mackie, who portrays Falcon in the film, told the Movies with Ali Plumb podcast that Marvel Studios’ latest venture is more of an ACTING film than an ACTION film. He thinks it’s so good that it could be nominated for best picture.

Mackie said:

Having seen the movie, it’s Marvel’s best movie so far… Winter Soldier and (the first) Iron Man are probably Marvel’s two best movies, and I feel like (Civil War) beats both of those movies. It’s really, really good. It’s because it’s more of an acting movie than an action movie. I feel like the story is very concise and interesting, and you get to see Robert Downey Jr and Chris Evans and Scarlett Johannson and Mark Ruffalo and everybody just do really, really good ACTING. And then there’s action in it. I think it might be the first superhero movie that might be up for Best Picture.

Did you notice the other news in that paragraph?

Anthony Mackie let slip that Mark Ruffalo (Bruce Banner/Hulk) IS in the film although Ruffalo previously said he wasn’t. Was it a slip of the tongue or will the Green Giant really make an appearance?
