There’s been no word yet on whether Supergirl will be renewed for a second season, but the show’s creators are already making plans as if Season 2 was a go.
Now that Hank Henshaw aka Martian Manhunter (David Harewood) has been publicly revealed as the head of the DEO, he was sentenced to prison at the secretive Project Cadmus. In the show, Project Cadmus is a facility that focuses on genetic engineering in order to develop the abilities of aliens for military use.
With Supergirl heading into its final episodes of the season — there’s only two more left, and Myriad having the denizens of National City under the will of the Kryptonians, it’s unlikely that Project Cadmus and the goings-on there will be dealt with in full. When asked about it, executive producer Andrew Kreisberg said, “We can’t speak to that. You’re not going to see Cadmus this season. It’ll be something that gets saved for season 2.”
Season 2! It also appears that the show is saving the rescue of Kara and Alex’s father for the second season as well. Kreisberg said, “[Alex] is on a mission [to save Hank and her father], but Myriad taking over the entirety of National City is going to put into question which mission she should be pursuing… Obviously she knows her father is alive and he’s out there, but the entirety of National City has been taken over, and there’s going to be some discussions with Hank in the subsequent episodes about which danger is more immediate and pressing.”
It seems like there’s already a lot for Supergirl to take on should we be so lucky to get a second season.
The next episode of Supergirl airs on Monday, April 11, 2016, at 8pm EST on CBS.
The season finale titled “Better Angels” airs the following week on April 18th.SuperFable
