Marvel likes to say “it’s all connected,” but according to Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. star Chloe Bennet, it’s not.
The actress who plays Inhuman agent Daisy Johnson on the show (which is airing its third season finale tonight) expressed her dissatisfaction with the way the MCU movies tend to ignore the show — even when it makes a lot of sense for the two to intertwine.
Speaking at Wizard World Des Moines this weekend, Bennet said she still doesn’t understand why the movie universe pays no attention to what goes down on Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. although events from the movies (such as Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Thor: The Dark World, and Captain America: Civil War) are typically shoved into the show’s narrative.
When asked her opinion on why S.H.I.E.L.D. didn’t play into the Civil War movie narrative, Bennet said, “I don’t know. People who make movies for Marvel, why don’t you acknowledge what happens on our show? Why don’t you guys go ask them that? Cause they don’t seem to care!”
Yeah, she seems pretty hot about it. Then she added this: “The Marvel Cinematic Universe loves to pretend that everything is connected, but then they don’t acknowledge our show at all. So, I would love to [appear in a Marvel movie], but they don’t seem too keen on that idea.”
While it’d be great to see S.H.I.E.L.D. back in the movie universe, it doesn’t look like that will happen as the MCU moves into Phase 3. Kevin Feige recently told Gizmodo, “Movies are developed so far in advance that a lot of those things [Inhumans, Hydra monsters, etc.] weren’t done when we started to film [Captain America: Civil War].” He added, “[We could] do something in a film that absolutely handcuffs what the [S.H.I.E.L.D.] team can do… [but] they don’t want to be handcuffed. They shouldn’t be handcuffed.”
Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. airs Tuesdays at 9pm EST on ABC.SuperFable
