Another Marvel TV show is coming — this one centered around the interracial crime-fighting duo Cloak and Dagger.
Freeform, formerly known as ABC Family, has ordered the project straight to series. The Disney-owned network, which has a younger viewing audience, gave the greenlight yesterday, according to Variety.
Cloak and Dagger, which has been called a “superhero love story”, is based on the adventures of Tyrone Johnson aka Cloak and Tandy Bowen aka Dagger. The two have appeared in Marvel comics alongside Spider-Man and the X-Men.
Freeform states: Cloak and Dagger is an adaptation of the beloved characters whose story is aimed squarely at young adults. This live-action interracial romance follows Tandy Bowen and Tyrone Johnson, two teenagers from very different backgrounds, who find themselves burdened and awakened to newly acquired superpowers while falling in love. Tandy can emit light daggers and Tyrone has the ability to engulf others in darkness. They quickly learn they are better together than apart — but their feelings for each other make their already complicated world even more challenging.
There’s no writers or actors attached to the project yet.
Cloak and Dagger had previously been rumored to be in development when Freeform was still being called ABC Family.SuperFable
