Shame on you, Steve Rogers! Shame on you, Sharon Carter! What were you thinking?
Agent Carter actress, Hayley Atwell, played Steve Rogers‘ love interest in the first Captain America film. And she really hated the kiss between Cap and Agent 13 Sharon Carter (Emily VanCamp), who happens to be Peggy Carter‘s great niece, in Captain America: Civil War.
Speaking to IGN, Atwell shared how she felt Peggy would react to the Steve/Sharon lip-lock:
Well, first of all she’d be turning over in her grave. She’d be like ‘no.’ And she’d inject herself with the blue serum and become a super villain. She’d break out of her coffin and ground [Sharon]. She’d ground her. Then she’d kick Steve’s ass as well. I just feel that, you know — I wouldn’t want to date my great aunt’s guy. It just feels like it crosses an incestuous boundary. And Peggy just died. That’s even more disrespectful, right? It’s like, ‘Don’t touch that. You can’t tap that!’
Granted, Rogers (Chris Evans) didn’t know about Sharon’s connection to Peggy until after they had kissed.
It will be interesting to see where the Steve/Sharon romance goes in future Marvel films. The two will presumably share screen time in Avengers: Infinity War — Part 1, which will be in theaters on May 4, 2018, and Avengers: Infinity War — Part 2, which will be in theaters on May 3, 2019.
The Infinity War double-header is set to begin filming in November.SuperFable
