Is a New Joker Coming to Gotham?

Is Lori Petty the new Joker?

Since Gotham premiered, Fox’s Batman prequel show has toyed with the idea of including the Joker in its cast.

A Joker-esque origin tale was told in Season 1 with Jerome Valeska (played brilliantly by Cameron Monaghan) and his circus family.

Jerome’s tale was extended in the first part of Season 2 as he became the leader of the gang of Maniax who terrorized Gotham for a while. But, their reign was short-lived as Jerome met his demise, destined only to be a “proto-Joker.”

Now, rumors are swirling that another Joker-style character will appear in the second half of Gotham‘s Season 2. A photo of actress Lori Petty in make-up reminiscent of the Joker has been released. (Yes, a female Joker.)

Petty will appear in an episode titled “This Ball of Mud and Meanness.” The show provided the following synopsis: Alfred and Selina help Bruce on his quest to find his parents’ killer, Matches Malone (guest star Michael Bowen). Meanwhile, Gordon follows up with Edward Nygma on Kristen Kringle’s whereabouts and Hugo Strange (guest star BD Wong) continues his treatment to reduce Penguin’s aggression.

Whether Lori Petty turns out to be a (the?) Joker or not, this will be one killer episode.

“This Ball of Mud and Meanness” airs on March 14th at 8pm EST on Fox.
