A sequel to the surprise box office hit, Kingsman: The Secret Service (2015), is due out in 2017.
The new film, subtitled The Golden Circle, will again follow the adventures of orphan turned secret government agent Gary “Eggsy” Unwin (played by Taron Egerton). Mark Strong will also reprise his role as senior Kingsman Merlin. However, Samuel L. Jackson (the primary villain of the first film) will not be returning.
The latest edition of Empire magazine reveals some plot details and concept art for the upcoming release based on the comic books by Mark Millar. Taron Egerton called The Golden Circle Kingsman’s “international story” and the artwork depicts the Kingsman headquarters being destroyed.
Empire reveals that both Merlin and Eggsy will travel to the United States to take up arms with their American counterparts, the Statesmen. The Statesmen are led by Ginger (played by Halle Berry).
The film’s villain will be Poppy, played by Julianne Moore.
Fox apparently has high hopes for this film as some actors have already been signed for a possible third installment.SuperFable
