It looks like the Netflix/Marvel superhero team-up, The Defenders, will be finished much faster than one might expect.
Krysten Ritter, the actress who portrays Jessica Jones, says the second season of Jessica Jones and the debut of The Defenders will be filmed back-to-back. She told Digital Spy, “They’ll be back-to-back. I don’t know if they’ll overlap a little bit.” She added, “It’s about to be a serious undertaking. I’m starting my physical training — lots of weight training and boxing.”
The Defenders will feature all of the Netflix/Marvel TV superheroes — Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, and Iron Fist — coming together to defeat a threat greater than any they could face on their own. Daredevil‘s second season was recently released. Luke Cage‘s first season will be released in September 2016. And Iron Fist is just beginning production.
Other characters, including Elektra and The Punisher, may also appear in The Defenders.
Ritter also teased the future of Jessica Jones‘ solo series. The second season hasn’t begun filming yet, but the actress said, “I’m excited to see what happens next for Jessica, and the end of season one left a lot of doors open and questions unanswered. Kilgrave was her reason for getting up every morning. Saving people gave her purpose. I wonder how emotionally taxed she’s going to be now. That opens a lot of doors as to who will come out and play. We all live in the same universe, so there are endless possibilities.”SuperFable
