Lionsgate Outlines Plans to Turn Divergent Finale Into TV Series

Shailene Woodley as Tris Prior in 'Divergent: Allegiant'

Lionsgate is moving forward with plans to develop the Divergent finale into a television series.

In a recent call with investors, TV Chairman Kevin Beggs and his team “got excited about the possibility of what the series could look like — resolving the novel in a season across 10 to 13 episodes and then expanding from there into multiple seasons,” according to Deadline.

Lionsgate is set to present the series to 12 networks that have shown interest next week.

The third film in the franchise, Divergent: Allegiant, did not do as well as expected in theaters, and plans for the fourth film, Ascendant, were tabled.

Beggs said moving the story to television presented a ‘very substantial economic upside.’

There’s no word yet on whether series stars Shailene Woodley, Ansel Elgort, Theo James, and Miles Teller would return for the television series.SuperFable
