While Jessica Jones and Daredevil took place mostly in Hell’s Kitchen, Netflix and Marvel’s newest venture — Luke Cage — will not.
At the Daredevil premiere event on March 10th, Joe Quesada, Marvel’s Chief Creative Officer, said Luke Cage’s story will largely take place in “a different side of Manhattan.” He added, “We’re not just locking ourselves into Hell’s Kitchen — although a lot of stuff does go on in Hell’s Kitchen. Luke Cage’s world is still New York, but it’s a different neighborhood. Again, I don’t want to reveal too much more than that, but the show itself will have a different palate, a different feel, a tone. It will sound different. So stay tuned.”
It’s good that Marvel is seeking to diversify the setting of each of its upcoming series. Seeing how characters with different background interact could be a major pulling point going forward.
Quesada also said Iron Fist will have a different vibe. He told Decider that his story “takes place in the same world,” but added that Danny Rand “will have a different perspective on the world than some of the characters that you’re seeing now.”
