The release date for the third film in The Maze Runner trilogy has been pushed back by almost a year to give star, Dylan O’Brien, time to recover.
The new release date for The Maze Runner: The Death Cure is January 12, 2018. It was previously set to hit theater on February 17, 2017.
Dylan O’Brien, who plays Thomas in the series, was hospitalized from injuries sustained during an accident on set on March 17th. Details on his injuries have not been confirmed, but /Film reports that O’Brien “was said to have several broken bones, either fracturing his cheek bone or orbital socket.”
Fans of Dylan O’Brien can next see him on the big screen in Deepwater Horizon, which releases on September 30, 2016.
THE MAZE RUNNER: THE DEATH CURE
WICKED has taken everything from Thomas: his life, his memories, and now his only friends—the Gladers. But it’s finally over. The trials are complete, after one final test. What WICKED doesn’t know is that Thomas remembers far more than they think. And it’s enough to prove that he can’t believe a word of what they say. Thomas beat the Maze. He survived the Scorch. He’ll risk anything to save his friends. But the truth might be what ends it all.
