Natalie Portman Won’t be in Next Thor Movie Because Most of it ‘Takes Place in the Cosmos’

Natalie Portman as Jane Foster in 'Thor: The Dark World'

Now we have a solid reason why Natalie Portman won’t return to the role of Jane Foster in the next Thor movie, Thor: Ragnarok.

A real reason besides her own well-documented lack of enthusiasm for the franchise that is. (I still wonder what’s up with that. Her assistant Darcy, played by Kat Dennings, was one of my favorite characters in Thor movies. I’m gonna miss her.)

Speaking on the Empire Podcast, Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige said there are “many reasons” why Natalie Portman won’t be in the film, most of which will be explained in the film. But the major cause for her absence is because “there are only a couple of scenes on Earth in this movie; 80 to 90 percent takes place in the cosmos.”

Okay, that makes sense.

While Portman won’t be coming out to play, plenty of other characters will be, including: Hulk, Loki, Sif, and two new characters played by Tessa Thompson and Cate Blanchett.
