Scott Adkins says Doctor Strange could be Marvel’s first horror film thanks to the influence of director Scott Derrickson.
Derrickson is well-known for films such as The Exorcism of Emily Rose, Deliver Us from Evil, and Sinister. So, it’s only natural that some of those elements will bleed over into his work on Doctor Strange, starring Benedict Cumberbatch and Chiwetel Ejiofor.
To drive home the idea, Scott Adkins, speaking to the Huffington Post, said, “What’s great about Marvel is they don’t just make superhero movies. They make a different genre out of a different superhero film. Whether it’s a thriller, a straight-up action movie or political thriller, they’re likely to choose a different genre for different heroes, and we’re gonna see some psychedelic stuff in this one. Very exciting.”
Doctor Strange opens up the Marvel Cinematic Universe to the world of magic, so it’s bound to be vastly different from anything we’ve seen before.
Adkins also spoke with the Huffington Post about Benedict Cumberbatch’s fighting skills (or lack thereof), his audition with Marvel, and his newest film, Jarhead 3: The Siege.
Doctor Strange is set to hit theaters on November 4, 2016.SuperFable
