Since 2014, Dwayne “the Rock” Johnson has been confirmed as the actor playing Black Adam in the planned Shazam! movie.
But now, with recent production changes, it appears that he will not be in the film at all.
The Wrap‘s Umberto Gonzales recently reported that the film has been fast-tracked, with production set to begin in early 2018 with a 2020 release date. Now, based on a Twitter conversation between Gonzalez and Variety‘s Justin Kroll, it appears that neither Black Adam not Dwayne Johnson will appear in Shazam!
Kroll stated that there was no way Johnson could be in the film if production was beginning in early 2018. Gonzales responded, saying, “He is not in it.”
That said, info on Shazam‘s filming is incredibly thin with no official casting or synopsis being released yet. But, with the recent chatter, we can expect more official information from DC soon.
